"Isaac prayed to the LORD on behalf of his wife..."-Gen. 25:21
As husbands we are called to be the Priest of our own household, and as men of God who consistently live in the prayer closet, we are to take up ALL matters and lay them in the Lord's hands... Even our wife's matters. I know it's hard to believe, but it really isn't all about us! It sounds pretty basic, right? But then again, being a disciple can be pretty basic... Walk with God, Stay in his word, and prayer, and seek him in all things... Another verse that jumped off the page for me was...
"The babies jostled each other within her, and she said, "Why is this happening to me?" So she went to inquire of the LORD.
The LORD said to her,
"Two nations are in your womb,
and two peoples from within you will be separated;
one people will be stronger than the other,
and the older will serve the younger." -Gen 25:22-23
As our wives seek God, he does, and will answer them. It's important that we listen and understand that. It's good for us to be leaders in our household, but not to the point that we don't value the insight which God has given our wives. It's a blessing being married! And don't forget, we are to love our wives as Christ loves the church! That self sacrificial love. It's time to be true husbands that we were called to be! In closing... Peep this...
"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church" -Ephesians 5:25-29
