"If Jesus had preached the same message that ministers preach today, He would never have been crucified." — Leonard Ravenhill
We're in an age where the Gospel has been watered down so much, and somehow it's all about us, and what God can give us. You want a brand new Ferarri? Just ask for it, and God will give it to you... lol... Somehow, we forget the verses about being broken, and being a living sacrifice for God. A verse that leaps off the page that ties into this is...
"To whom can I speak and give warning?
Who will listen to me?
Their ears are closed
so they cannot hear.
The word of the LORD is offensive to them;
they find no pleasure in it." - Jeremiah 6:10
and...
"Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear." - 2 Timothy 4:2-3
The only bridge between us and God is the Lord Jesus Christ who was crucified, died, and resurrected for our sins. We've read that the wages of sin is death, and the only thing that saves us is the blood of our Savior. Saved by grace through faith alone, in Christ alone.
Shalom
