Ok, so this morning was pretty awesome… I was listening to Timothy Brindle’s “The Great Awakening” album, and I got to a song called “Vanity” and he is rapping as Solomon (Son of King David) about not being satisfied with the things of the world. Please keep in mind he was wealthy beyond his years, and had over 700 wives. One might think, “Well, if I just had a million dollars,” or “If only I had a nice big house,” or whatever… The problem with that is there’s a hole in our hearts that can only be filled by Jesus. Think about it… In November we heard the news that Shakir Stewart (Def Jam Executive) committed suicide, and the question arises. Why would someone with money, power, and respect end life? I think many times it’s because we cannot fill the hole in our heart. No matter how hard we try… The things of the world do not satisfy!....
“He has planted eternity in the human heart . . .” -Ecclesiastes 3:11
In a sense, we are homesick... God has set eternity in our hearts. We NEED Jesus! It's in HIM alone that we are satisfied, HE is our portion FOREVER.
"Whom have I in heaven but You?
And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You. My flesh and my heart fail;
But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." -Psalm73:25-26
