It's NOT about what you can do for God.

We are coming into a season where I believe there is a ton of confusion, even beyond the “Easter Bunny”, and all that. What does the death and resurrection of Jesus mean to you? Why do we actually celebrate Easter? Well, I can tell you what it’s not. It’s not about what you can do for God; ironically, it’s all about what God did for you. It all boils down to this, God loves you so much that he took His only Son, and sacrificed Him to bridge the gap that exists due to our sin. In the Old Testament of the bible, the only way someone could atone for their sins was by the shedding of blood of a ritually clean substitute. So, Jesus (the Son of God) was sent, perfect, and sinless, as a sacrifice for the World. Think about that. You can “give up” things for lent, but remember it’s NOT about what you can do for God. The price that Jesus paid on the Cross was far more valuable than anything YOU could ever offer.

“… He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit”

-Titus 3:5

“All of us have become like one who
is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags"

– Isaiah 64:6

This is a time of year where commercialism really takes over, and let’s actually stop, and really evaluate what God has done for us. Let’s make this year different from the rest. We have several books in the Bible that Predict, Describe, or Reflect on the Cross, and the Resurrection. Let’s open our Bibles this year and really try to comprehend God’s love for us. God is love.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and
this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God“ –Ephesians 2:8
